In the event of disaster first responders will be overwhelmed and unable to respond to all the emergency needs of our residents as quickly as desired. Recognizing this, CERT training programs prepare residents to work as a team and take care of their neighborhoods. This program will give you the tools and the education to help yourself and your neighbors.
By taking a CERT class you will learn:
- Teamwork and doing the greatest good for the greatest number of people after a disaster
- Disaster psychology
- Fire prevention, safety, and suppression
- Search and rescue
- Disaster medicine (first aid certification is a separate class)
- Lifting heavy objects
- How to organize a CERT team in your neighborhood
